I feel like I'm the only person who was underwhelmed by A Swim in a Pond in the Rain 😅😅 (But I'm also underwhelmed by Stephen King's On Writing so I guess I'm just weird)

I think I was expecting Saunders to be so highbrow, given his Booker Prize credentials, but he was just so down to earth. I loved what he had to say especially about escalating the narrative. But maybe it was a case of right book, right time!

I didn't like the Russian short stories 🤣 I thought Saunders' lessons were useful, but were being based off short stories that didn't illustrate his points very well 😅

(My preferred craft read, although I haven't finished it yet, is Philip Pullman's Daemon Voices)

Last year I felt I was the only person in the world who didn't love Lessons in Chemistry!

A great list, Natasha. Thanks for sharing.

I too loved Carrie Soto. It was my first Jenkins Reid story and I thought it was marvellous. I've got Barbara's book to read but I think I'm a bit intimidated by its size. But everyone says such great things about it.

Enjoy Sevilla. We were there a few years back when the Feria was on in April. Gosh, the city came alive. It was a wonderful time to visit.

Warmest ...x

Definitely don’t be intimidated by the size of Demon Copperhead. Part of its brilliance is actually its size - that she has made an epic out of a life that at first glance seems anything but epic. Let me know if you do give it a try!
