I love the quiet of the art gallery in Northbridge Natasha, it isn’t always new things but I find the silence of the place lets my brain quiet for a while.

Also love to head out to Kalamunda or Mundaring and have a coffee and walk in the bush, especially in the cooler months.

Love to hunt through op shops, the Paraquad at Shenton Park is a good one.

The 5km track through Bold Park is also great to clear the mind, listen to the birds and there are a couple of benches to sit on and ponder life along the way.

I need to go on the Bold Park walk - so many people have said how nice it is in there! Thanks for the reminder.

Love your posts Natasha! I just signed up to your 'writing a novel' workshop in August! Can't wait!

Here's a few ideas:

- Go to a cafe by yourself with a notebook and pen. People watch and let the ideas flow over your favourite hot drink.

- Lay on the grass, watch the leaves, clouds and sky.

- Sit on the beach and have a conversation with the Sun, imagine what he would have to add about your characters & plot

- Visit a Lighthouse or historical building, walk through it and feel the history speaking to you

- Sit on big rocks by the beach and soak up the grounding energy

Maybe go to a concert or some other sort of live performance.

I had a kombucha for a while. One batch of it was almost like champagne, but that was the end of it and I threw the dreadful-looking SCOBY thing away.

I love concerts and theatre, and it's a great suggestion, but I always go to them with other people. I wonder how it would change the experience going by myself and marking it out specifically as an Artist Date? Might have to give it a try!

Are there botanical gardens or open gardens anywhere near you? The planning, care and and time it takes to build these beautiful gardens reminds me of how many layers there are to most creative pursuits. Enjoy!

That's such a great idea! There is one very nearby. I will definitely give that a try - thank you!

I use art galleries a lot for artists dates. Obviously I'm kind of lucky with living in Henry Moores city and being back and forth between Cambridge and London a lot but do you have any local art studios or open studios nearby?

There are a few galleries around, but we really don't have the variety of galleries and exhibitions that other parts of the world have. It's the one thing I would change about my city. That said, there are some and I could definitely put that on my list when there's a new exhibition on. x

My family loves kombucha …. Me, not so much 🤢. Happy writing.

I have to say that my husband's kombucha does not look like something I'd want to drink, but I'm glad he's having fun with it!

Wonderful update as always! Good to know that you too struggle to get going with a new book, but I'm glad to hear your fingers are now flying over the keyboard at speed. I'm going to hope that neither of my children decide to acquire a SCOBY. My son has been experimenting with alcohol fermentation so we have fresh yeast in the frig plus a bottle of something that is supposed to be apple cider and which just keeps expanding - I'm terrified it's going to explode!

Oh gosh - I've been a bit worried about the kombucha exploding too, but yours sounds even more volatile! Fingers crossed they don't progress from alcohol fermentation to scobys!
