The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard has a cover! And it's my favourite cover out of all my books. Plus a book giveaway, and all the usual Bijoux List goodness!
I found “ Mays best moments “ to be very touching. Yes, there are times when a particular book speaks volumes to the reader and can lead us back out of the dark to light.
As far as the book cover, the blue dress is gorgeous and the cover is quite eye catching.
I enjoyed reading about the war correspondent who was one of Hemingway wives. She would have lead an exciting life.
Yes, Martha was such an incredible woman and must have seen more over her 89 years than most of us would see even if we lived to twice that age. And thank you for your comments on the cover - I'm so glad you like it!
My favorite color is blue & this beautiful cover dress is everything a girl would die to wear. Maybe the wird ”die” was not a great word to use!!! Have loved all your books & can not wait for this newest one. Thank you for sharing your writing with the wirld.
Great post, Natasha. What a special moment with the reader.
I just finished watching Daisy Jones and the Six (read the book first and loved it) and I’m feeling so drawn to the 70s at the moment - the music, the fashion. I drew on my own experiences of the era to write my second novel Wildflower, set in 1979, and had so much fun revisiting the time. My characters were nowhere near as glamorous as yours sound to be though.
Re: Yellowstone, I've decided I don't like it. My husband's hooked so I've seen parts of it multiple times. I'm not a prude, I've dropped the F bomb multiple times, but come ON! The violence is more than I can handle too. However, I did enjoy 1883, despite some of the violence and difficult scenes. BTW, just like that woman you met who said you saved her life, your books got me thru a very difficult time in my life too. It's imperative at times to be taken away from our troubles and get caught up in a different world.
Yes, I started watching 1883 on a plane and really enjoyed what I saw of it, but can't get it on my streaming here so I decided to try Yellowstone, which is quite a different experience. And yes - Beth certainly knows her way around a curse word!
And thank you for your lovely comment too - it's very humbling and touching to me that my books can have that kind of impact. I'm so glad those stories were there for you when you needed them.
I love the dress on the cover. It's gorgeous. The cover will definitely stand out on the shelves. Have you read 'Love and Ruin' by Paula McLain? It's historical fiction about Martha Gelhorn during the Spanish Civil war, meeting Ernst Hemingway and then their time in Cuba, their marriage and its demise. I really enjoyed it. I'd love to learn more about her. It was also an interesting insight into how Ernst Hemingway wrote 'to whom the bell tolls'. Imagine having a beautiful house in Cuba to focus on writing for 3 months! I'm looking forward to your new book and would love to win a copy signed by you of course!
Yes, I have Love and Ruin on my shelf! Paula McLain is a wonderful author. And you're right - oh to be Ernest and have a gorgeous writing retreat in Cuba to escape to for months!
I've loved each of your books, especially the Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre. I appreciate the research you put into the eras and times you write about. In Three Lives, you wove into the story an appreciation of vintage fashion, most especially a period in fashion that has long appealed to me. Very feminine and flowy. The bonus was seeing you wearing one of your dresses described in the book. Love, love, loved it. I can't wait to read Disappearance.
Natasha, I agree with you - the new cover is the best one yet. I've read all your books so far and I can't wait for The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard. As for Martha Gellhorn, she was one hell of a gal! Having read a few Hemingway biographies, I know he was a male chauvinist of the first order. He certainly didn't appreciate Martha.
So excited for your next book to come out in North America! And I loved the image of Martha Gellhorn, I would love to have an ounce of her courage and determination!
How shocked and delighted I was to see the Aix markets featured in this newsletter! I’ve been living in Aix-en-Provence for the last two years and a fan of your books for much much longer. As the French like to say, Aix is the jewel of Provence! :) I’m actually working on a book about an incredible and criminally overlooked female leader of a French resistance network who lived some truly dramatic moments in this city. If you ever find yourself in Aix again, I’d love to tell you all about it as I suspect it’s just the kind of true life tale you would love!
I have a sneaking suspicion I may have been in Aix researching the same person! There's an official announcement coming in a couple of weeks - that's the exciting news I alluded to - so you'll have to let me know if I was right when the news is officially made public.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful cover and the preview of your next book! I love the Halston gown and look forward to learning more about the three generations of amazing women.
Wow I absolutely love your fabulous cover for your new book The disappearance of Astrid Briicard😍Also a Fabulous book Giveaway and all other goodies🍀❣️🍀❣️
I am somewhat disappointed to have to say that I have not yet read any of your books. I am a member of Allison Tait's WWAT group and really enjoyed the session we had with you as an industry insider. I would really love the opportunity to win a copy of The Three Lives of Alix St Pierre. PS The new cover is stunning.
Beautiful cover and dress. Loved the Martha Gellhorn story : very evocative of the extraordinary Lee Miller and your novel The French Photographer!
HI Andrew, you're the winner of the signed small format paperback of The Three Lives of Alix St Pierre - congratulations! I'll be in touch via email.
Thank you!
Thank you! And yes, Martha had the same spirit and talent as Lee!
It's a beautiful cover. Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure! So glad you like it!

Yes, same! I listened to 70s music voraciously while I was writing the book and now I am addicted, especially to Joni Mitchell!

HI Carol, you're the winner of the signed advance copy of The Three Lives of Alix St Pierre - congratulations! I'll be in touch via email.
I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed ALIX! Hopefully you'll enjoy the new one too once it's published!

Thank you! I was so happy when my publisher sent me this cover. And yes, Martha was extraordinary and Hemingway definitely did not deserve her!
Love the cover! The gown is spectacular!
Thank you!
So excited for your next book to come out in North America! And I loved the image of Martha Gellhorn, I would love to have an ounce of her courage and determination!
I would too! She was remarkable and probably a one of a kind.

Ooooh that IS exciting! I truly hope so. Her story deserves to be more widely known!

Halston is also a character in the book - he made gorgeous dresses but he was a terrible person to so many people!
Interesting. I don’t know anything about him so I’ll look forward to finding out. He sounds very different to liovely Christian Dior.
Wow I absolutely love your fabulous cover for your new book The disappearance of Astrid Briicard😍Also a Fabulous book Giveaway and all other goodies🍀❣️🍀❣️
